Investing in Indiana’s Roads and Bridges
Safe, reliable infrastructure is critical to growing Indiana’s economy. Indiana has nearly 2,000 structurally deficient bridges, and we have become the “crumbling” crossroads of America. For too long, Indiana has failed to make the proper investments in our infrastructure, and Hoosiers are paying the price. When I-65 was closed in 2015 because of an unsafe bridge, Hoosier families and businesses impacted directly. Jim supports a long-term solution that provides dedicated funding to our roads, bridges, and public transportation programs. Jim believes that we must dedicate 100% of fuel taxes to our roads and bridges. He also supports using some of the state’s $2 billion surplus to fund infrastructure improvements and increasing state support for local infrastructure programs without forcing local governments to raise taxes.
